The word sage (Salvia) comes from the Latin word "salvere" which means "to save" or "Salvus" which means health. Its origins date back thousands of years. It was considered a sacred herb by the Greeks and Romans. The Egyptians used sage to improve fertility, while the Greeks found it can be used to cure cough and to stop bleeding.
